This study assesses the preparedness attitudes of high school students at SMA Negeri 2 Bontang in the context of dual hazards, namley the coastal environment and industrial risks. This study uses a descriptive-comparative approach, with a sample of 110 students selected through proportional statified random sampling. Data collection was conducted using a validated and reliable attitude questionnaire, while data analysis employed descriptive statistics and independent t-test. The result indicate that students disaster preparedness fall into the high category. However, the results of the t-test show that there are no significant differences in disaster preparedness attitudes based on residential location or parental occupational background. This suggests that an individual’s geographic and socioeconomic characteristics are not primary factors in determining students’ preparedness, likely because all students receive the same information regarding disaster mitigation within the school environment. Therefore, it is recommended that disaster mitigation education in scholls be conducted using hand-on simulation methods so that a preparedness mindset can be deeply and continuosly internalized.
