Abstract

This study analyzes the spatial retail structure and market share dynamics between Warung Madura as a traditional retail format and modern minimarkets (Alfamart and Indomaret) in Cibitung District, Bekasi Regency, Indonesia. Retail location data were collected through GPS-based field surveys, while consumer preferences were obtained from a questionnaire administered to 100 respondents. Spatial analysis was conducted using the Average Nearest Neighbor method to identify distribution patterns, Kernel Density Estimation to map retail density, and an integrated approach combining the Huff Model and isochrone analysis to estimate effective market share based on probabilistic consumer choice under spatial competition. The results indicate that Warung Madura exhibits a statistically significant clustered distribution pattern, whereas Alfamart and Indomaret tend to be randomly distributed. Although modern retail outlets demonstrate a greater population coverage capacity, Warung Madura maintains a stable effective market share of approximately 30% across all distance thresholds. These findings highlight that traditional retail continues to possess structural competitiveness within the local retail ecosystem despite being subject to intense modern retail competition.
