Preprint Policy

01Policy▾
Neo Civic Education: Media Kajian Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan accepts manuscripts that have been posted as preprints. A preprint is not considered prior publication. Authors must declare the preprint at submission, so that the editors can handle it openly, following the COPE Core Practices on publication ethics and peer review processes.
Preprints allowed Yes, on a recognised preprint server or repository, at any time
Declaration Required at submission, with the server name and DOI or link
Embargo None. See the Copyright Notice.
After acceptance or publication Link the preprint to the published article
02Which versions may be posted▾
Preprint The version before peer review. May be posted at any time, before or after submission.
Accepted manuscript The peer-reviewed version accepted by the journal, before copyediting and layout. May be posted after acceptance.
Published version The final PDF from the journal. May be posted after publication, under CC BY-SA 4.0.
Suitable places include preprint servers such as SSRN, OSF Preprints, SocArXiv, EdArXiv, or Research Square, institutional repositories, and personal websites.
03At submission▾
—  Say in the comments to the editor that a preprint exists, and give the server, the date, and the DOI or link.
—  Say if the preprint has received public comments, and how the manuscript has changed since.
—  Tell the editor if a version of the manuscript is under consideration elsewhere: this is not allowed, whether or not a preprint exists.
04Preprints and anonymous review▾
—  Authors should be aware that a public preprint can reveal their identity to reviewers. The journal still uses double-anonymous review for the submitted manuscript.
—  Do not cite your own preprint in the anonymous manuscript in a way that identifies you.
—  Reviewers are asked not to search for the preprint or the authors. If they come across it, they tell the editor and judge the manuscript on its own merits. See the Reviewer Guidelines.
05After acceptance and publication▾
—  Update the preprint record with a link to the published article (and its DOI once registered), with a note such as: “This article has been published in Neo Civic Education: Media Kajian Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan, Volume(Issue), pages, [article URL, or DOI once registered]”.
—  Do not remove the preprint; the scholarly record should stay complete.
—  Readers should cite the published version once it exists.
06What is not a preprint▾
—  An article already published in another journal, or a peer-reviewed conference paper published in full in proceedings, is prior publication. Extended versions may be considered only with full disclosure and substantial new content. See Publication Ethics.
—  A thesis or dissertation in a university repository is not prior publication, but must be declared and cited.
